Sandra Ohlenschlager, RPT

Sandra received her Bachelor´s degree in Physical Therapy in 1986 at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She commenced her physical therapy career in a hospital setting in Pretoria and, after two years, moved to work in an orthopaedic outpatient clinic in Pretoria. After a further 8 years, she immigrated with her family to the United States. She worked in inpatient and outpatient settings at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, IL before moving to an orthopaedic outpatient private practice in Galesburg.

Sandra moved to Minnesota to join Reynolds Rehab Physical Therapy in 2006, where she worked in the Minneapolis office for 1 year and then moved to work full time at the Eagan office.

Sandra´s clinical experience has been mostly in the orthopaedic outpatient setting and includes treatment of patients with complex orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injuries. She has attended several advanced continuing education courses in soft tissue mobilizations and myofascial release. Manual therapy was a major focus of her training in South Africa, where she had extensive theoretical and practical training in the Maitland technique, as well as McKenzie and Cyriax methods. Sandra is a certified Work Capacity Evaluator and has performed many functional and work capacity evaluations in complex workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. At times, she has testified in legal proceedings regarding these cases. Most of her orthopaedic outpatient experience in Galesburg involved rehabilitation of workers´ compensation cases for large industrial manufacturers, railroads and assembly line industrial workers.

Sandra continues to pursue continuing education opportunities concerning soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, management of back and neck pain, and treatment of sacro-iliac joint dysfunction. She has developed expertise in treating patients with chronic pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, complex back and neck injuries, and upper and lower extremity injuries.
